Manchester City began life in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), a church team in east Manchester, and took their current name in 1894. After decades in the shadow of United, the club was transformed by Abu Dhabi ownership from 2008. Under Pep Guardiola, City won six Premier League titles in seven seasons, including four in a row, and completed the treble in 2023 with their first Champions League. Enzo Maresca, a former Guardiola assistant, succeeded him as manager in June 2026.
