Aston Villa were founded in 1874 in Birmingham and were one of the twelve founder members of the Football League in 1888. Villa Park has been their home since 1897. The club's greatest night came in 1982, when they beat Bayern Munich in Rotterdam to win the European Cup, a year after winning the English title. Under Unai Emery, Villa returned to the Champions League in 2024/25 for the first time in more than four decades.
