Boubacar Kamara grew up in Marseille and came through Olympique de Marseille’s academy, making his first-team debut in 2016 and becoming a regular in defence and midfield.
He joined Aston Villa on a free transfer in 2022, and under Unai Emery he became one of the Premier League’s most reliable defensive midfielders, reading the game well and moving the ball calmly under pressure. Serious knee injuries have interrupted parts of his time in England.
Kamara made his France debut in 2022. His versatility means he can also play at centre-back.
