Getafe CF were founded in 1983 in a working-class suburb south of Madrid and reached La Liga for the first time in 2004. Known for their organised, physical style, particularly under José Bordalás, Getafe have reached two Copa del Rey finals and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in 2008. They play at the Coliseum, one of La Liga's smaller grounds.
