Gabriel Jesus grew up in SΓ£o Paulo’s Jardim Peri neighbourhood and came through Palmeiras, winning the Brazilian league in 2016. He also won Olympic gold with Brazil that year.
Manchester City signed him in January 2017, and he won four Premier League titles. He moved to Arsenal in 2022, where he was an important player in the club’s title challenges before injuries interrupted his time in north London.
Jesus won the 2019 Copa AmΓ©rica with Brazil. Barcelona signed him in September 2026.
Playing style
Jesus is a hard-working, versatile forward who can play as a centre-forward or on either wing. He presses relentlessly, dribbles well in tight spaces and links play intelligently with team-mates. He is not a traditional penalty-box striker, but he creates chances for others and scores important goals. His first season at Arsenal, where he helped transform the team’s attack, was one of his best. Injuries, including a serious knee problem, later interrupted his time in north London.
International career
Jesus has won more than 60 caps for Brazil. He won the 2019 Copa AmΓ©rica, scoring in the final, and Olympic gold at Rio 2016. He played at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
Career in numbers
Since his first senior season in 2015, Jesus has made 446 club appearances and scored 157 goals in all competitions for 4 clubs. His most productive season in front of goal was 2019/20, when he scored 23 times in 53 games for Manchester City. So far in 2026/27 he has 2 goals in 4 appearances for Barcelona.
