Alexander Sørloth grew up in Trondheim and played for several clubs across Europe before finding his best form. A loan at Trabzonspor in 2019/20 won him the Süper Lig Golden Boot, and he later had spells at RB Leipzig and Real Sociedad.
At Villarreal in 2023/24 he scored 23 La Liga goals, including four against Real Madrid in one match. Atlético Madrid signed him in 2024.
At 1.95 m, Sørloth is strong in the air and hard to knock off the ball, but he is also quick for a big man. He is a regular for Norway alongside Erling Haaland.
Playing style
Sørloth is a tall, powerful striker who is strong in the air and hard to knock off the ball. But he is also quick for a big man, capable of running in behind defences and finishing with either foot. He is a good target man who holds the ball up and brings team-mates into play. At Villarreal and Atlético he has been a prolific scorer, including a four-goal performance against Real Madrid. His work rate and physicality make him valuable in Simeone’s system.
International career
Sørloth made his Norway debut in 2017 and has formed a strike partnership with Erling Haaland. He is one of Norway’s most important players and helped them qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Career in numbers
Sørloth’s senior club career, which began in 2013, has so far brought 475 appearances and 175 goals for 11 clubs. The 2019/20 season, with 33 goals from 49 matches for Trabzonspor, remains his highest tally. His busiest campaign was 2025/26, with 54 appearances.
