Ezri Konsa grew up in east London and came through Charlton Athletic’s academy. After a season at Brentford, he joined Aston Villa in 2019.
At Villa he developed into one of the Premier League’s most reliable centre-backs, playing in the Champions League. He was part of England’s squad at Euro 2024.
Arsenal signed him in August 2026.
Playing style
Konsa is a reliable, quick centre-back who can also play at right-back. He reads the game well, is strong in the tackle and is comfortable on the ball, able to play short passes through the lines or longer balls to the forwards. At Aston Villa he became one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders, playing a key part as Unai Emery’s team qualified for and competed in the Champions League. His calm temperament and consistency made him an attractive signing for Arsenal.
International career
Konsa made his England debut in March 2024 and was part of the Euro 2024 squad, where England reached the final. He has been included in several squads since.
Career in numbers
Konsa’s senior club career, which began in 2016/17, has so far brought 425 appearances and 13 goals for 4 clubs. The 2024/25 season, with 3 goals from 50 matches for Aston Villa, remains his highest tally. So far in 2026/27 he has made 6 appearances for Arsenal.
