Vitinha came through Porto’s academy and spent a season on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers before returning to Portugal to become a key player in Porto’s midfield. Paris Saint-Germain signed him in 2022.
Under Luis Enrique he became the team’s organiser: a small, technical midfielder who takes the ball from the defence, controls the tempo and rarely loses possession. His role in PSG’s 2025 Champions League win established him as one of Europe’s best midfielders, and he is now a club vice-captain.
Vitinha is also a regular for Portugal, with whom he won the 2025 UEFA Nations League.
Playing style
Vitinha is a small, technical midfielder who controls the tempo of games. He receives the ball from the defenders, turns under pressure and moves it quickly, rarely losing possession. His passing is precise and his decision-making excellent, so he keeps his team moving. Under Luis Enrique he became the organiser of PSG’s midfield, sitting deeper than earlier in his career. He is also a strong presser and covers a lot of ground, which allows PSG to play high up the pitch.
International career
Vitinha made his Portugal debut in 2022 and played at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024. In 2025 he was one of the key players as Portugal won the UEFA Nations League, beating Spain in the final.
