Playing style
Kerkez is an aggressive, overlapping left-back who is dangerous in attack and committed in defence. He makes powerful runs down the left, delivers accurate crosses and has a relentless work rate. Under Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth he developed into one of the Premier League’s best full-backs, playing in a high-pressing system that demands intensity. He is also known for his competitive, combative style, which makes him difficult to play against. His move to Liverpool was intended to provide a long-term successor to Andrew Robertson.
International career
Kerkez represents Hungary, having grown up partly in the country, and played at Euro 2024. He has become a key player for the national team alongside Liverpool team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai.
Career in numbers
Across 7 seasons of senior club football, beginning in 2020/21, Kerkez has played 204 matches and scored 9 goals for 5 clubs. His best scoring return came in 2022/23: 5 goals in 52 appearances for AZ. So far in 2026/27 he has made 7 appearances for Liverpool.
