Jurriën Timber grew up in Utrecht and came through Ajax’s academy, winning two Eredivisie titles. His twin brother Quinten is also a professional footballer.
Arsenal signed him in 2023, but he suffered a serious knee injury on his Premier League debut and missed almost all of his first season. He returned in 2024/25 and became a regular at right-back.
Timber has been capped by the Netherlands.
Playing style
Timber is a versatile, intelligent defender who can play at right-back, left-back or centre-back. He is quick, strong in one-on-one duels and comfortable on the ball. After missing almost all of his first season at Arsenal with a knee injury, he returned to become a key player at right-back, where his defensive solidity and ability to move into midfield are valuable.
International career
Timber made his Netherlands debut in 2021 and played at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024.
Career in numbers
Across 8 seasons of senior club football, beginning in 2019/20, Timber has played 218 matches and scored 12 goals for 2 clubs. The 2025/26 season, with 4 goals from 44 matches for Arsenal, remains his highest tally. His busiest campaign was 2024/25, with 48 appearances. So far in 2026/27 he has made 2 appearances for Arsenal. The full season-by-season record is in the Stats section of this profile.
