Hugo Ekitike grew up in Reims and came through his hometown club before joining Paris Saint-Germain, first on loan, in 2022. He won Ligue 1 with PSG but found it hard to establish himself.
A move to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024 changed that: he scored regularly in the Bundesliga and the Europa League. Liverpool signed him in 2025, and he was the club’s top scorer in his first season.
Ekitike has been capped by France.
Playing style
Ekitike is a tall, mobile striker who combines technique with pace. He can dribble past opponents in tight spaces, finish with both feet and link up with team-mates by dropping deep. At Eintracht Frankfurt he formed a successful partnership with Omar Marmoush before becoming the main striker, scoring regularly in the Bundesliga and the Europa League. His first season at Liverpool, where he finished as the club’s top scorer, showed he could adapt quickly to the Premier League’s intensity.
International career
Ekitike represented France at youth level and has since been capped by the senior team, competing for a place in one of the deepest attacking groups in world football.
Career in numbers
Ekitike’s senior club career, which began in 2020/21, has so far brought 181 appearances and 61 goals for 5 clubs. The 2024/25 season, with 22 goals from 48 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt, remains his highest tally. The full season-by-season record is in the Stats section of this profile.
