Inter Miami were founded in 2018 by an ownership group including David Beckham and began playing in Major League Soccer in 2020. The club's profile changed completely in 2023 with the arrival of Lionel Messi, who led them to the Leagues Cup in his first weeks, followed by Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suárez. In 2026 Inter Miami moved into their permanent home, Nu Stadium at Miami Freedom Park. Kily González was appointed head coach in September 2026.
