Lautaro Martínez grew up in Bahía Blanca and came through Racing Club, where he broke into the first team as a teenager. Inter signed him in 2018.
At Inter he has become one of the best strikers in Europe and the club’s captain. He was Serie A’s top scorer in 2023/24 as Inter won the title, and he led them to the 2023 and 2025 Champions League finals. He is among the club’s all-time top scorers.
For Argentina, Lautaro won the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América, where he was the top scorer and scored the winning goal in the final against Colombia.
Playing style
Lautaro is a complete striker. He finishes with both feet and his head, is strong enough to hold the ball up and quick enough to run in behind. He is also an excellent presser and works hard for the team. His partnership with Romelu Lukaku and later Marcus Thuram made Inter one of the most dangerous attacks in Europe. As captain he leads by example, and his goals have been central to Inter’s recent titles and European runs.
International career
Lautaro made his Argentina debut in 2018 and has won more than 60 caps. He won the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América, where he was the top scorer and scored the winning goal in extra time in the final against Colombia.
