Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet could return to action this Sunday after recovering from an ACL injury that sidelined him since the 2025 playoffs.
Coach Mike Macdonald indicated Charbonnet will get a full week’s worth of reps in practice, saying, “Zach is going to have a full week’s worth of reps. So, that’s exciting, and there’s a possibility you could see him on Sunday in some capacity.” The team shared this update through a video posted by Brian Nemhauser of hawkblogger.
Charbonnet tore the ACL in his left knee on his fifth carry during the divisional round of the 2025 playoffs. He underwent surgery on February 20 and has been on the reserve/physically unable to perform list since. The Seahawks opened his 21-day return-to-practice window on October 1, meaning the team must activate him this week or risk him finishing the season on PUP.
During the 2025 regular season, Charbonnet ran for 730 yards and scored 12 touchdowns on 184 carries. He shared the backfield with Kenneth Walker, who has since moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs and is performing impressively there after signing as a free agent.
The Seahawks face a decision on Charbonnet’s roster status ahead of Sunday’s game. Bringing him back could provide a boost to their ground game, which has had to adjust since his injury and Walker’s departure.
Macdonald’s comments signal optimism but stop short of confirming Charbonnet will see significant playing time. The team will monitor his progress through the week’s practices before finalizing their plans.
