ESPN Analyst Names Jaguars Wide Receiver a Player to Target in Fantasy
ESPN fantasy analyst Eric Moody has identified Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jakobi Meyers as a top fantasy target for the upcoming season.
Meyers has topped 800 receiving yards in five straight seasons, including his first 1,000-yard campaign in 2024. After arriving in Jacksonville midseason, Meyers drew 61 targets in nine games, quickly earning quarterback Trevor Lawrence's trust with his route running, feel for coverage, and reliable hands.
The 28-year-old wide receiver has established chemistry with Lawrence, leading all receivers with Jacksonville in receptions per game with 4.7. His midseason addition altered the trajectory of the Jaguars' offense, creating opportunities for Meyers to make an impact.
According to Moody, Meyers is being drafted later than other receivers with similar projections. "I'd rather wait and take the discount," Moody said. "Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Parker Washington are all projected for 100-plus targets, yet Meyers is going a round later than the others."
Moody attributes Meyers' value to his consistent production, having finished no worse than WR32 during his five-year stretch. The analyst believes Meyers' ability to create space on short to intermediate routes and his reliability in those parts of the field could make him a greater red zone target.
The Jaguars' passing game has been reshaped by the departure of running back Travis Etienne Jr. to the New Orleans Saints. Etienne led the Jaguars in receiving touchdowns with six, and Meyers' ability to step up in his place could provide a boost to the team's offense.
As the fantasy football draft season approaches, Meyers' ADP has him being selected as the No. 41 receiver off the board. However, his upside and potential for growth make him an attractive option for fantasy owners looking to capitalize on a late-round value.
The Jaguars will begin their offseason program soon, and Meyers will have the opportunity to build on the chemistry he established with Lawrence last season. With a strong supporting cast and a revamped passing game, Meyers could be poised for a breakout season in 2024.
The fantasy football community will be closely watching Meyers' development and his potential impact on the Jaguars' offense. As the draft approaches, Meyers' value is likely to continue to grow, making him a top target for fantasy owners looking to make a statement in the upcoming season.
