1 Shocking Silence: Media Overlooks Oscar Piastri’s Apology After Hungarian GP Clash with Carlos Sainz

It's no surprise that Carlos Sainz is surprised by the media's portrayal of his apology to Oscar Piastri after their on-track incident at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Media outlets only covered a portion of Sainz's comments, leaving out the crucial part where he said he was sorry for the Australian driver.

The incident occurred during the pre-summer break when Sainz and Piastri got tangled up due to a blue flag system failure at the Hungaroring. Sainz was fighting Fernando Alonso at the time, and Piastri arrived at the scene, forcing the Australian onto the grass.

The two drivers later exchanged messages to clear the air during the summer break. Sainz expressed his surprise that the media only published a part of his comments, interpreting it as him saying 'he doesn't care' about the incident.

Sainz explained to media at the Dutch Grand Prix that he had apologised to Piastri in every interview he gave after the Hungarian GP. 'I was surprised that the only media that came out of me was no apology when I actually, in every TV I went to, I said, 'I'm sorry for Oscar, that shouldn't have happened,' he said.

However, Sainz also acknowledged that he had valid reasons for what happened, and the media only picked up on the part where he was explaining those reasons. 'It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. Sometimes we do so many TV pens here that having to repeat one and again and again…you need to think we're doing 13 TVs, two questions each. By the 11th one, we're saying, 'Yeah, sorry to Oscar, like this shouldn't have happened, but this happened because of that,' Sainz summed up.

The media's selective reporting of Sainz's comments has sparked debate among fans and pundits. While Sainz's apology was not widely reported, it's clear that the incident has been resolved between the two drivers.

The outcome of the Hungarian GP incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by Formula One drivers in the aftermath of a session, when they have to juggle multiple interviews and repeat the same answers.
