Westlake claims top spot in Central Texas volleyball power rankings for Class 6A

Westlake has claimed the top spot in the Central Texas volleyball power rankings for Class 6A this week, edging ahead of Round Rock and Lake Travis. The team posted a 32-8 record, beating out Round Rock’s 28-10 and Lake Travis’s 33-6, according to the latest rankings released by the Austin American-Statesman.

Westlake’s rise to number one comes after a series of strong performances, including a recent match against Vandegrift in Austin on August 18, 2026. Geralynn Byers-Veal, wearing number 24, was seen celebrating a key play with her teammates during that game. The team’s consistent results have helped them climb the power poll, which tracks Central Texas volleyball teams across multiple classifications.

Following Westlake, Round Rock holds the second position, while Lake Travis rounds out the top three in Class 6A. Rouse and Dripping Springs complete the top five with records of 22-15 and 24-16 respectively.

The power rankings also list the top teams in Class 5A and Class 4A/Others. Liberty Hill leads Class 5A with a 35-5 record, followed by Georgetown at 34-5 and Anderson at 23-6. McCallum and Glenn sit at fourth and fifth. In Class 4A/Others, Wimberley tops the list with 35 wins and only four losses, followed by St. Andrew’s, Burnet, Lago Vista, and Thrall.

The rankings offer a snapshot of the current volleyball landscape in Central Texas, reflecting the teams’ win-loss records and recent form. Westlake’s position at the summit of Class 6A signifies their strong season so far.

This week’s poll was compiled and published by the Austin American-Statesman as part of their coverage of local high school volleyball. The full rankings and updates are available through their Daily Briefing newsletter.
