Ryan ten Doeschate has stepped down as India's men's assistant coach after a two-year stint with the national team.
Ten Doeschate will not travel with Team India for their two-Test tour of Sri Lanka in August, marking the end of his tenure.
The 40-year-old former Netherlands all-rounder informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of his decision to leave during India's white-ball tour of England. Despite being offered an extension until 2027, Ten Doeschate cited personal reasons for his departure, specifically the demands of international cricket and its relentless travel schedule.
Ten Doeschate joined the Indian coaching setup in July 2024 under former India opener Gautam Gambhir, who succeeded Rahul Dravid as head coach following India's T20 World Cup triumph. Gambhir had previously worked with Ten Doeschate during their successful stint at the Kolkata Knight Riders.
During Ten Doeschate's tenure, India won several notable tournaments, including the Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup in 2025, as well as successfully defending the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the Test side faced difficulties, losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and suffering series defeats against New Zealand and South Africa at home.
Subhadeep Ghosh will take over as India's new fielding coach, following T Dilip's contract coming to an end and not being renewed. Dilip will not travel with the squad for the upcoming Test tour of Sri Lanka. Ghosh has previously worked as a fielding coach for India A teams.
India's coaching staff is set to undergo changes ahead of their two-Test tour of Sri Lanka.
