Marquinhos joined Paris Saint-Germain from Roma in 2013 at the age of 19 and has spent more than a decade there, becoming club captain and the most-capped player in PSG history.
Born in São Paulo, he began his career at Corinthians before a single season in Italy. In Paris he has won Ligue 1 many times, alongside a string of domestic cups, but the trophy that defined his career came in 2025, when he lifted the Champions League after PSG beat Inter 5-0 in the final in Munich.
Marquinhos is an intelligent centre-back who can also play in defensive midfield. For Brazil he has won the 2019 Copa América and played at several World Cups.
Playing style
Marquinhos is an elegant, intelligent centre-back who reads the game superbly. He is not the tallest defender at 1.83 m, but his timing, positioning and leap make him strong in the air. He is comfortable with the ball, can play out from the back and has also been used as a defensive midfielder. His leadership, both on and off the pitch, has been central to PSG through many managerial changes. He scores important goals from set pieces and has a calm, respected presence in the dressing room.
