Federico Dimarco was born in Milan, grew up an Inter supporter and joined the club’s academy as a boy. His path to the first team was long: he spent years on loan at clubs including Empoli, Sion, Parma and Hellas Verona before returning in 2021.
Since then he has become one of the most dangerous left wing-backs in Europe, with a left foot capable of pinpoint crosses and spectacular long-range goals. He won Serie A with Inter in 2023/24 and played in the 2023 and 2025 Champions League finals.
Dimarco is a regular for Italy.
Playing style
Dimarco is an attacking left wing-back with one of the best left feet in Europe. His crossing and set-piece delivery create a large number of chances, and he is capable of spectacular goals, including shots from long range and even from near the halfway line. He is also comfortable playing as a left-sided centre-back in a back three, which he did on loan at Verona. His passion for Inter, the club he supported as a boy, is obvious in his celebrations, and he has become a fan favourite. Defensively he has improved, though his strength is clearly in attack.
International career
Dimarco made his Italy debut in 2021 and has become a regular. He played at Euro 2024, where Italy reached the last 16, and is one of the country’s first-choice options at left-back or left wing-back.
Career in numbers
Across 13 seasons of senior club football, beginning in 2014/15, Dimarco has played 342 matches and scored 32 goals for 6 clubs. The 2025/26 season, with 8 goals from 47 matches for Inter Milan, remains his highest tally. His busiest campaign was 2024/25, with 51 appearances. So far in 2026/27 he has made 5 appearances for Inter Milan. The full season-by-season record is in the Stats section of this profile.
