Playing style
Jones is a technical, press-resistant midfielder who is comfortable receiving the ball in tight spaces and keeping possession. He is a good dribbler, able to carry the ball past opponents, and his passing is accurate and progressive. Under Arne Slot he developed into a reliable starter, valued for his control and his ability to play in several midfield roles, including occasionally at full-back. As a Liverpool-born academy graduate, he had a special connection with supporters. His move to Inter gave him a new challenge in Serie A.
International career
Jones made his England debut in 2024 and was included in several squads under Lee Carsley and Thomas Tuchel. He also scored the winning goal in the final of the 2023 European Under-21 Championship against Spain.
