Benjamin Šeško came through Red Bull Salzburg’s system after leaving Slovenia as a teenager and spent time on loan at FC Liefering. At Salzburg he developed into a tall, fast and technically gifted centre-forward.
RB Leipzig signed him in 2023, and he scored regularly in the Bundesliga and Champions League. His combination of size and speed made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young strikers.
Manchester United signed him in 2025. Šeško is Slovenia’s first-choice striker and played at Euro 2024.
Playing style
Šeško is a tall, fast and technically gifted striker. He is strong in the air, quick over distance and a good finisher with either foot. His combination of size and speed makes him difficult to defend against: he can hold the ball up with his back to goal or run in behind a high line. He is still developing his all-round game, including his link-up play, but his potential has attracted comparisons with Erling Haaland, who also came through the Red Bull Salzburg system.
International career
Šeško made his Slovenia debut in 2020 and has become their first-choice striker. He played at Euro 2024, Slovenia’s first major tournament since 2010, where they reached the last 16.
Career in numbers
Since his first senior season in 2019/20, Šeško has made 248 club appearances and scored 104 goals in all competitions for 4 clubs. His best scoring return came in 2024/25: 21 goals in 45 appearances for RB Leipzig. So far in 2026/27 he has 2 goals in 6 appearances for Manchester United.
