The Texas Rangers have signed a left-handed pitcher with parts of three seasons of Major League experience to the organization.
Anthony Veneziano, a southpaw who has recently played in the Korea Baseball Organization's SSG Landers, has signed a minor league deal with the Rangers.
According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Texas has liked Veneziano as a depth arm for a while. They signed him to a minor league deal in December, but he requested his release three weeks later to pursue an opportunity with the SSG Landers in the Korea Baseball Organization.
Veneziano posted a 6.10 ERA in 16 starts with the Landers before his release. In MLB, he's spent time with the Kansas City Royals (2023-24), Miami Marlins (2024-25), and St. Louis Cardinals (2025).
The 40.2 big league innings Veneziano owns a 3.98 ERA with 40 strikeouts, and Texas could use him as a bulk reliever down the stretch. It's not a flashy signing for the Rangers, but Veneziano could be a solid innings eater if promoted from Triple-A.
The Rangers are looking to bolster their bullpen, and Veneziano could be a valuable addition. With the team in the midst of a tight playoff race, every bit of depth counts.
Veneziano's signing is a low-key move, but it could have big implications for the Rangers' chances down the stretch.
