Bristol City's Josh Ingle commits to Robins until 2028
Sophie Ingle, the 34-year-old Wales midfielder, has agreed to a new contract with Bristol City, committing to the Robins until 2028.
Bristol City head coach Charlotte Healy has hailed Ingle as "the perfect role model" after the midfielder signed fresh terms ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Ingle, who joined City on a free transfer from Chelsea last summer, played in all 22 games in WSL 2 and helped the Robins finish fourth. She's looking forward to the future, saying, "I'm really excited to be staying at this amazing football club."
Ingle's experience and quality on the pitch have been key to City's success. Healy praised her leadership, saying, "Her calmness and her leadership added so much value to our group and she had a brilliant season personally on the pitch too."
The new contract comes ahead of City's trip to Sunderland on Sunday, 6 September, as they begin their 2026-27 campaign. Ingle's commitment to the club is a boost for Healy's plans.
Ingle has a wealth of experience, having won 11 trophies in seven seasons at Chelsea, including five WSL titles. She's also a key player for Wales, having won her 150th cap for the national team in April's World Cup qualifier against Albania.
With Ingle committed to the club, City will be looking to build on their success in the new season. Healy's praise for Ingle's leadership and experience suggests that the midfielder will continue to play a key role for the Robins.
