1 in 5 Chance of Jesper Lindstrøm’s Loan to Schalke 04 Being Completed

Jesper Lindstrøm's loan to Schalke 04 stalls over purchase clause dispute, leaving the 26-year-old's future uncertain.

Sport Bild reports that negotiations between Schalke and Napoli have broken down, with the Bundesliga club unwilling to accept the Serie A outfit's proposed terms for the automatic purchase clause. Lindstrøm was expected to complete his medical before being unveiled as Schalke's latest summer signing.

The Denmark international had spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg, making four Bundesliga starts and 11 substitute appearances in a difficult campaign. His estimated market value fell to approximately €4m.

Schalke reportedly want the agreement to contain a purchase option, which would be mandatory under certain conditions. Napoli, however, are pushing for an obligation that would force Schalke to purchase Lindstrøm for €5m, tied to an even lower number of appearances.

The dispute has led to Schalke suspending negotiations, with the club only willing to reconsider if Napoli return to the original arrangement. Lindstrøm could otherwise travel back to Italy shortly.

Lindstrøm's loan move has been in the works for some time, but it appears that the finer details are now causing a hurdle. The purchase clause dispute is the main point of contention, with both clubs holding firm on their respective positions.

The 26-year-old's future remains uncertain, with his potential new club unwilling to budge on the terms of the loan. Lindstrøm's agent and representatives will likely be working behind the scenes to try and resolve the issue.

It's worth noting that Lindstrøm's market value has taken a hit in recent times, falling from an estimated €8m to €4m. This may be a contributing factor to Napoli's insistence on a lower purchase price.

The Schalke and Napoli stalemate is unlikely to be resolved anytime soon, with both clubs dug in on their positions. For Lindstrøm, it's a waiting game, with his potential move to Schalke hanging in the balance.

Schalke will only consider completing the transfer if Napoli return to the original arrangement, leaving the Denmark international's future at the club in doubt.
