1 Close Call: Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman Miraculously Avoids Serious Injury in Scary Dugout Fall

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman had a harrowing experience on Wednesday, August 12th, when he fell into the visiting dugout while chasing a foul ball during the eighth inning against the Kansas City Royals at Dodger Stadium.

Freeman was tracking down a pop-up near the Royals' dugout when he lost his footing and crashed to the ground without anything to break his fall. The frightening incident left him sore, but thankfully, he did not suffer any serious structural injuries, including a head injury.

Manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media after the game, expressing relief that Freeman had escaped more severe harm. "He's sore. Hand, knee, foot, shoulder a little bit. But I think that we really dodged a bullet. He's in good spirits, which I think is a good sign. Just kind of total body soreness right now, so it'll be day-to-day," Roberts said.

Freeman himself spoke to reporters, describing the fall as a mere fall. "I didn't hit my head, so that was the key part there. I am sore, kneecaps are sore, shoulder sore, hand sore, wrist sore. I mean, I fell," the first baseman said. He also mentioned that he had already taken steps to recover, including cold-tubbing and doing everything he needed to do to be ready to play the next day.

The Dodgers will be hoping that Freeman's injury does not keep him out for too long, especially with the National League's top team, the Milwaukee Brewers, set to roll into town. With no serious structural injuries and especially the lack of a head injury, the Dodgers seemingly got the best-case scenario, all things considered.

With the Dodgers scheduled to rest on Friday, it remains to be seen whether Freeman will be back in action on Thursday or will take more time to recover. The team will keep a close eye on his condition, and fans will be eagerly awaiting an update on his status.
