Errol Spence Jr. will end a three-year layoff on Saturday night, stepping up two weight classes to face Australian middleweight contender Tim Tszyu in the main event at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales, Australia.
Spence, a former unified welterweight world champion, has not fought since his ninth-round TKO defeat at the hands of Terence Crawford in July 2023. Tszyu, a former WBO super welterweight champion, is on a two-fight win streak since his seventh-round stoppage loss to Sebastian Fundora in their rematch.
The Australian boxing star has lost three of his past six fights – all of which have been world title clashes. Tszyu, once considered the top fighter at 154 pounds, will face a significant challenge in the undefeated Spence.
The Spence vs. Tszyu bout is part of a stacked card that also includes a co-feature between two-division world champion Stephen Fulton and Liam Wilson in a 133-pound catchweight bout.
The main card starts at 9 p.m. ET on DAZN pay-per-view, DAZN Ultimate, and Amazon Prime Video Pay-Per-View, with main event ring walks expected at around 11:30 p.m. ET.
Spence, 36, has been out of action since July 2023, and many have questioned his decision to move up two weight classes to face Tszyu. However, the American boxer is confident in his abilities, despite the layoff.
The Afterpay Arena in Sydney Olympic Park will host the highly anticipated bout, with fans eagerly awaiting the showdown between two of the biggest names in boxing.
