Carson Kvapil secures pole for Blue Cross NC 300 at Charlotte despite weather concerns

Carson Kvapil secured the pole position for the Blue Cross NC 300 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway despite a rainout of the morning’s practice and qualifying sessions. Kvapil will start at the front on Saturday, Oct. 10, with Corey Day, the recent Las Vegas race winner, alongside him on the front row.

The qualifying session scheduled for the morning was canceled due to rain linked to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias, which continues to threaten the event’s schedule throughout Saturday. Officials confirmed the race is set to begin at approximately 3 p.m. Central, 4 p.m. Eastern, but weather conditions could still affect the timetable.

Kvapil will drive the No. 1 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, with Day in the No. 17 Chevrolet representing Hendrick Motorsports. The lineup behind them includes Jesse Love in the No. 2 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing and Brent Crews in the No. 19 Toyota representing Joe Gibbs Racing.

Other notable starters include Sam Mayer in the No. 41 Chevrolet for the Haas Factory Racing team, Taylor Gray in the No. 54 Toyota from Joe Gibbs Racing, and Austin Hill in the No. 21 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. Sheldon Creed, driving the No. 00 Chevrolet for Haas Factory Racing, will also be part of the competitive field.

Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval will host the 200-lap, 300-mile race, divided into three stages: two of 45 laps each and a final stage of 110 laps. Fans can catch the race live on the CW Network, with radio coverage provided by PRN. Streaming options include ESPN Unlimited, NASCAR.com, and SiriusXM audio for subscribers, with limited access through FUBO in certain markets.

The full starting grid features a mix of teams and drivers from established outfits such as JR Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Richard Childress Racing, as well as entries from smaller teams like Viking Motorsports, Jeremy Clements Racing, and Alpha Prime Racing. Drivers like Rajah Caruth, Jeremy Clements, and Anthony Alfredo round out the mid-pack, while veterans such as Justin Allgaier and Matt DiBenedetto are positioned further back.

The weather remains a concern with the impact of Hurricane Isaias, though race officials have not announced any changes to the expected start time. The event’s continuation depends on conditions, but for now, Kvapil holds the pole and will lead the field onto the Charlotte track.

Saturday’s Blue Cross NC 300 promises a competitive event despite the disrupted preparations caused by the weather. The starting lineup is set, and the racing community will watch closely as the forecast unfolds.
