Brooks Koepka Withdraws from Rocket Classic with Tee Times Set
Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the Rocket Classic in Detroit, just days after committing to the tournament.
The PGA Tour announced on Tuesday that Koepka will not be participating in the event, with Ben Silverman taking his place in the 147-player field.
Koepka's withdrawal comes after a unique schedule this year, which has included stops at tournaments he has not typically played in to try and earn FedEx Cup points.
The Rocket Classic is the second-to-last regular-season event of the season, with Koepka currently ranked 84th in the FedEx Cup standings.
The top 70 players in the standings will make the start of the playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.
Koepka has been dealing with a nerve issue that has affected his left hand, which he first mentioned in June when he withdrew from the final round of the RBC Canadian Open.
He has since missed cuts at the U.S. Open and Scottish Open, but finished T-28 at The Open at Royal Birkdale just over a week ago.
The Rocket Classic will proceed as planned, with tee times for the first two rounds announced on Tuesday.
Brendon Todd, Lanto Griffin, and Eric Cole will kick things off at 7 a.m. on Thursday morning on the front nine, while Nick Dunlap, Joel Dahmen, and Max McGreevy start on the back nine at the same time.
Other notable tee times for the first round include Tony Finau, Keegan Bradley, and Wyndham Clark, all of whom will start at 7:33 a.m.
The Rocket Classic field is finalized, with 147 players set to compete in the event.
The PGA Tour has also announced that Sompo, a Japanese insurance company, has agreed to a multi-year deal to replace Rocket Mortgage as a tournament sponsor.
The Sompo-sponsored tournament will be played at Silverado Resort in Napa, California in 2027 and then will continue as part of the new Championship Series in 2028 at a new market to be determined in the future.
The PGA TOUR and Sompo today announced a multi-year partnership that will make Sompo the sponsor of a full-field PGA TOUR tournament beginning in 2027 and continuing as a new PGA TOUR Championship Series event beginning in 2028.
The 2027 event will be played at Silverado Resort in Napa, California.
The Rocket Classic will be the final event on the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse schedule, with the tournament set to conclude on Sunday, July 31.
The Rocket Classic tee times for the first two rounds can be found online, with the tournament set to get underway on Thursday, July 28.
