Auburn Football Postpones Showdown with Missouri State
Auburn's nonconference game with Missouri State has been postponed to 2034, according to a report by Liam Keeting of the Springfield News-Leader. The Tigers were initially set to face the Bears in 2027.
The SEC's move to a nine-game conference format has caused a shake-up in nonconference scheduling. Auburn's game with Jax State was recently rescheduled from 2026 to 2029. The extra conference game has trimmed each team's nonconference slate to three games, creating scheduling issues.
The SEC's decision has also led to changes in contracts with fellow Power Conference teams. Georgia has moved its home-and-home series with Florida State to a neutral site matchup, while Alabama has cancelled games with Oklahoma State and West Virginia. Auburn, however, will still face Notre Dame and Miami in nonconference games over the next four seasons.
Auburn's three-game nonconference slate for the 2027 season remains unchanged. The Tigers will face Middle Tennessee State to open the season on September 4, followed by a home game against Austin Peay on September 18, and their road contest at Notre Dame on September 25.
The rescheduling of Auburn's game with Missouri State is the second nonconference game affected by the SEC's format change. The change has brought about significant scheduling challenges for the Tigers and other SEC teams.
