Andrew Tate, a kickboxer-turned-influencer, and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Miami on Saturday. The brothers were taken into custody outside the James L. Knight Center, where they were set to host a bareknuckle boxing event. British authorities are seeking their extradition on a slew of new counts of criminal misconduct.
The Tates already faced charges, but the Crown Prosecution Service recently decided to prosecute Andrew Tate with 32 more counts, including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, and indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces six additional counts, including sexual assault, rape, and arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The brothers have maintained their innocence in the face of past and recent charges. Their attorney, Joseph McBride, pointed out that despite the allegations, the Tates have been traveling the world without incident and have made all their court appearances in Romania. "We are going to trial in Florida and it looks promising," McBride told TMZ Sports. "If we win, the entire narrative collapses."
The Tates were expected to host the debut event of Russia-based bareknuckle boxing promotion IBA Bare Knuckle alongside former UFC champion Jon Jones. Instead, they were handcuffed outside the venue as British authorities seek their extradition.
Born in the United States, the Tates moved to the United Kingdom as children before relocating to Romania in 2016 as Andrew gained fame as an internet personality. In 2022, they were arrested in Romania and accused of luring women for sexual exploitation, but the case did not move forward.
Since returning to the United States in February 2025, the Tates have not shied away from public events, attending a Power Slap event in Las Vegas and UFC 327 in Miami. Upon their arrival in Florida, Andrew Tate briefly feuded with Governor Ron DeSantis, who publicly stated that the brothers were not welcome in the state.
Andrew Tate began his career as a professional kickboxer in 2007 and competed until 2020. He made a return to fighting in December 2025, losing a majority decision to Chase DeMoor in an exhibition boxing match.
The arrest of the Tates marks a significant development in the ongoing case against them. As British authorities seek their extradition, the brothers will likely face a lengthy and complex legal process. The outcome of their trial in Florida could have a significant impact on their future and the narrative surrounding their case.
