Bo Nix threw for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns last season, leading the Denver Broncos to a 14-3 record and the AFC Championship Game. Now, with a healthy ankle and a year of experience under his belt, the quarterback is poised for a breakout season.
The early returns from Denver's training camp are promising, with Broncos reporter Luca Evans observing that Nix "looks considerably better + more poised + accurate" than at the same point last year. This improvement in efficiency and command is exactly what Nix needs to take his game to the next level.
Denver's addition of Jaylen Waddle, a highly explosive receiver, gives Nix a new target to work with. Nix himself has said that Waddle brings something the offense had been missing. The quarterback also has a new play-caller in Davis Webb, who spent the previous three seasons working directly with Nix as quarterbacks coach.
The Broncos' strong finish last season, which included a 14-3 record and a trip to the AFC Championship Game, sets the stage for Nix to make a push for MVP honors. If Nix can turn 25 passing touchdowns into 30-plus, push beyond 4,000 yards, and lead the Broncos to another strong season, the conversation about his chances will change quickly.
Nix has already stated that winning an MVP award is one of his goals. Given his improvement in training camp and the additions to the Broncos' roster, it's not hard to see why.
