Celtic's goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo has sent a warning shot to his teammates after they dismantled LASK 3-0 in the Champions League play-off first leg.
Sinisalo was relieved that LASK had two goals disallowed, which could have made for a nervy night for the Celtic goalkeeper. Despite keeping a clean sheet, Sinisalo believes Celtic can do better.
"We can be better," Sinisalo said. "The big moments went for us and there's a lot that we can do better. Ultimately, we've come away with a 3-0 win so we've got to be happy, but I think there's a lot more to come from the group."
The Finn made eight saves to secure the win, but Sinisalo's message to his teammates is clear: they should be able to do better. He wants to see less pressure on himself and more control over the game.
"I don't need to make that many saves as I've done on Tuesday, so that's got to be the message," Sinisalo said.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper has prior European experience, having played in Celtic's 1-0 win over Stuttgart last season, but this is his first taste of the Champions League.
"It's a funny one because not many Finnish players play in the Champions League or get that opportunity," Sinisalo said. "It's something you dream about."
Sinisalo's experience in the Europa League has given him a taste of what it's like to compete at the top level, and he's eager to build on this experience.
"You hear that, it brings a smile to your face and shivers and stuff like that, but you just want more and want to belong at that level," Sinisalo said.
Celtic will face LASK in the second leg of the Champions League play-off, and Sinisalo's words will be music to the ears of the Austrians. LASK will look to cause problems for Celtic when they travel to Scotland, and Sinisalo knows that they will be a decent side to face.
"They're a decent side and they'll cause us problems when we go there," Sinisalo said. "It's not over. It's half-time and no one's getting carried away or ahead of ourselves."
The second leg of the Champions League play-off will take place in Austria, where LASK will look to overturn the 3-0 deficit.
