The Tennessee Titans' quarterback Cam Ward led the offense to multiple scoring drives in the team's Blue & White scrimmage at Nissan Stadium on Friday night, going 21-of-30 with one touchdown pass to tight end Gunnar Helm.
The scrimmage was a spirited battle between the offense and defense, with the defense ultimately securing a one-point victory. Despite some struggles, the team showed promising signs, with both the offense and defense flashing potential.
Cam Ward's performance stood out, as he looked in control of the offense and led them on multiple scoring drives. He also showcased his athleticism with some nice gains as a runner. Ward-Wan'Dale Robinson connection has been strong all night, with Robinson reportedly being open on every play.
Rookie running back Nick Singleton made the most of his chance with the starters, displaying decisiveness and burst. With Tyjae Spears and Kalel Mullings dinged, Singleton got a chance to prove himself and took advantage.
First-round pick Carnell Tate did not disappoint in his Nissan Stadium debut, making multiple grabs throughout the scrimmage, including a highlight-reel catch that set the Titans up for a score. Wan'Dale Robinson was also a key player, with the chemistry between him and Ward on display all scrimmage.
Jeffery Simmons was in the backfield throughout the session, recording multiple sacks and pressures. The defense, while not fully live, showed some promising signs. Gunnar Helm was a consistent target for Ward, making an outstanding catch for the touchdown to put the offense up early.
However, not all players had a strong showing. Kicker Joey Slye missed multiple field goals and did not look good, while Will Levis was his usual self. Cody Barton was also beat for the touchdown and looked a step slow.
The team will now turn their attention to next week and the joint practice and preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
