Kyrie Irving climbed to 74th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list after passing Mark Aguirre with a free throw early in the second quarter of the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Indiana Pacers. The milestone came less than 48 hours after Irving surpassed Dolph Schayes for 75th place during Dallas’s visit to Houston.
Irving’s free throw at the 2:05 mark of the second quarter put him one point ahead of Aguirre, who scored 18,458 points in his NBA career. The Mavericks confirmed the update via their official channels, marking a significant personal achievement for the guard.
Just the night before, Irving moved past Schayes, who held 18,438 points, during the Mavericks’ game at the Houston Rockets on October 21. That game saw Irving’s career total reach 18,439 points, positioning him just behind Aguirre before tonight’s free throw tipped the scales.
Mark Aguirre spent his entire NBA career with the Mavericks and Detroit Pistons, known for his scoring ability in the 1980s. Irving’s move past Aguirre puts him higher than a franchise legend on the league’s all-time scoring list, a list that includes many Hall of Famers and current stars.
Irving’s progress on the scoring chart reflects his sustained offensive production over his NBA career, which began in 2011 when he was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. His scoring includes a combination of jump shots, drives, and free throws that have made him one of the league’s consistently dangerous offensive players.
The Mavericks have leaned on Irving’s scoring this season as they aim for a strong playoff push. Recent games have seen him deliver key baskets and maintain offensive pressure, contributing to Dallas’s competitiveness in the Western Conference.
Tonight’s milestone adds to Irving’s individual accomplishments but also underscores his role in the Mavericks’ current campaign. His ability to keep climbing the scoring ranks while adjusting to a new team environment reflects both his scoring talent and his durability.
The NBA’s all-time scoring list remains a point of pride for players and fans alike, marking the careers of those who have made a lasting impact on the game. Irving’s recent moves up the list place him among a select group of prolific scorers, with his total now at least 18,459 points.
The Mavericks will continue their season with Irving as a focal point of their offense. His scoring achievements serve as a reminder of his ability to perform at a high level and contribute in critical moments for the team.
