Abdul Carter, the New York Giants' third overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, has been named to NFL.com's All-Under-25 Team ahead of the 2026 season.
This recognition comes despite Carter's modest sack totals in his debut year, with just four sacks recorded. However, his production and upside as a pass rusher have drawn attention from NFL.com, with Nick Shook highlighting his strong foundation.
Carter's rookie season was marked by a winding journey toward selecting a jersey number, but he flew under the national radar for much of the campaign. Those paying close attention, however, understood that he had a strong debut.
In 2025, Carter finished seventh in quarterback pressures with 72, just five fewer than Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett recorded. He earned enough Defensive Rookie of the Year votes to finish fifth.
The second-year edge rusher is now poised for a significant leap in 2026, with new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson and added talent around him. This added depth should provide Carter with more opportunities to convert his pressures into sacks.
As Carter turns 23 in October, he has plenty of time to climb the popularity charts and realize his potential. With his production and upside already on display, the Giants will be watching closely to see how he develops in the coming season.
Carter has also been named to NFL.com's All-Breakout Team and identified as a non-quarterback MVP candidate, further emphasizing his status as one of the league's top young defenders.
