Quentin Lake intercepted Jacoby Brissett on the Arizona Cardinals’ opening drive in Week 6, delivering a quick defensive blow for the Los Angeles Rams. The safety read the route perfectly on a pass intended for tight end Trey McBride, grabbing his second interception of the season before being pushed out of bounds at the Cardinals’ 32-yard line.
The play came early in the first quarter and immediately put the Rams in prime position to score. Despite the opportunity, the drive stalled, and the Rams settled for a 44-yard field goal from new kicker Blake Grupe with 9:41 remaining in the fourth quarter. Grupe’s kick was his first successful field goal for Los Angeles.
Lake entered the game with 35 combined tackles and one interception, which he secured against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. The pick against the Cardinals showed his ability to anticipate and disrupt opposing offenses early in the game.
Brissett’s pass was intended to McBride, but Lake’s anticipation and positioning allowed him to jump the route and make the play. The interception was confirmed by the Rams’ official Twitter account, which shared a clip of the moment during the NFL on FOX broadcast.
The turnover did not lead to a touchdown, but it demonstrated the Rams’ defensive readiness and Lake’s growing impact in the secondary. The interception forced Arizona onto the back foot early, although the Cardinals managed to regroup and continue their offensive efforts after the turnover.
Lake’s interception came on a day when the Rams relied on their defense to maintain pressure on the Cardinals’ offense. The team’s ability to force turnovers will be important as they aim to improve their standing in the season.
With two interceptions now this season, Lake has established himself as a consistent threat in the secondary. His performance in Week 6 added to his contributions from earlier games and helped set the tone for the Rams’ defensive unit.
The interception represents one of the notable moments for the Rams in their Week 6 matchup. The team will look to build on these defensive plays as they progress through the season.
