Seven Jacksonville Jaguars players will sit out their Week 6 matchup against the Houston Texans, including wide receiver CJ Williams. The team announced the inactives ahead of the game, listing cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Jaylon Jones, safety Jalen Huskey, long snapper Ross Matiscik, defensive end Wesley Williams, and defensive tackle Albert Regis alongside Williams as unavailable for selection.
The Jaguars’ decision to declare seven players inactive affects both their offensive and defensive units. Williams, a wide receiver, has contributed as a depth option in the passing game. Meanwhile, the loss of three defensive backs in Brown, Huskey, and Jones reduces the options in Jacksonville’s secondary. The absence of Matiscik on special teams also limits their long snapping options.
Jacksonville’s official public relations department confirmed the list of inactives, but did not provide further details on the reasons behind these decisions, whether due to injury, coaching strategy, or other factors. The team faces the Texans at home, looking to improve their standing after a mixed start to the NFL season.
The Texans will meet a Jaguars squad missing several rotational players, which could influence how both teams approach their defensive and special teams setups. The Jaguars have yet to release a full injury report clarifying the status of these players beyond their inactive designation.
The game is scheduled for Sunday, and the Jaguars will reveal their active roster shortly before kickoff. The team’s head coach and staff have remained tight-lipped on the impact of these absences, focusing instead on preparing the players available for the Texans contest.
This week’s inactives list is the latest roster update from the Jaguars, as they navigate the physical demands of the NFL season and manage player availability. Fans and analysts will watch closely to see how Jacksonville adjusts its game plan without these seven contributors on the field.
