“If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.” The phrase, made famous by former NFL star and current Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders, sets the tone for a fresh Texoma football conversation this week. Instead of focusing on scores or standings, the spotlight turns to helmets — specifically, which high school football helmet in the Texoma region is the best designed.
Texoma community members have until Friday, October 23, to vote on their favorite helmet design from a curated list of 15 local high schools. The poll invites fans to decide which team’s helmet stands out in style, a break from the typical focus on gameplay and athlete performances.
The schools included in the poll cover a wide area: Memorial High School, Windthorst High School, Seymour High School, Munday High School, Graham High School, Iowa Park High School, Mineral Wells High School, Legacy High School, Vernon High School, Holliday High School, City View High School, Jacksboro High School, Merkel High School, Archer City High School, Petrolia High School, and Henrietta High School.
Texoma football fans can cast their votes online, with the current round closing on October 23. The initiative comes from the Wichita Falls Times Record News, encouraging community engagement beyond the usual game-day excitement. The publication also links to other local sports voting contests, such as the Texoma boys Athlete of the Week and a list of volleyball players to watch in the playoffs.
This helmet design vote offers a visual celebration of local teams, emphasizing identity and pride through the gear players wear. It gives players, coaches, and supporters a chance to see which school’s aesthetic resonates most with fans.
The poll’s timing coincides with Week 8 of the Texoma high school football season, a point when teams are deep into their schedules and playoff hopes start to take shape. While the vote does not impact standings or postseason outcomes, it taps into the region’s strong football culture by focusing on the look and feel of the game.
Texoma football followers interested in participating can find the voting link through the Wichita Falls Times Record News website. The poll results will reflect community preferences, but as of now, no further announcements about a winner or any related events have been made.
