The Los Angeles Rams have added cornerback Damarion Williams to their practice squad while releasing linebacker Jamie Sheriff, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Williams, 28, joins the Rams after a series of moves earlier in the 2024 season. The 5-foot-10, 183-pound cornerback finished his college career at Houston and was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round, 141st overall, of the 2022 NFL Draft. Williams appeared in 14 games as a rookie for the Ravens, recording 24 tackles, including 15 solo stops, one tackle for loss, and two pass breakups. His 2023 season saw limited action with only one game played, bringing his career total to 15 games without a start, interception, or sack.
Williams’ journey has included stops with multiple teams since being drafted. The Ravens waived him in August 2024, after which he joined the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squads. Tampa Bay waived him twice in late August and early September 2024, making the Rams his fourth NFL organization.
The Rams’ other practice squad move involved releasing linebacker Jamie Sheriff. Sheriff, 26, stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 254 pounds. He played college football at Mississippi Gulf Coast and South Alabama. Sheriff has appeared in three NFL games over two seasons: two in 2024 and one in 2025, splitting time between the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks. He has recorded one career tackle, registered in 2025, and is noted as a one-time Super Bowl champion.
Undrafted in 2024, Sheriff initially signed with Seattle, was claimed by Carolina the day after his waiver, and played 17 snaps during the Panthers’ Week 1 loss. He returned to the Seahawks’ practice squad in September 2024 and remained there until his release on August 30, 2024, before joining the Rams.
Both moves affect only the Rams’ practice squad and do not impact the 53-man active roster. The transactions come as the Rams continue adjusting their squad depth early in the season.
