The NBA offseason report card grades are in, and it's clear that some teams have made significant improvements while others have fallen short.
The Atlanta Hawks have earned a B+ for their offseason, with the acquisition of Aaron Wiggins and Luguentz Dort giving them an elite defensive backcourt.
The Celtics, on the other hand, have been graded a C+, after losing Jaylen Brown and replacing him with an aging Paul George. They did manage to find a reliable center in Mitchell Robinson, but he's not much of an upgrade over Nikola Vučević.
The Brooklyn Nets have received a B+ for their offseason, thanks to the addition of Keon Ellis, Julius Randle, and Moritz Wagner. They also drafted Mikel Brown Jr., one of the best pure scorers in the draft.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been graded a C for their offseason, which saw them ship out franchise player LaMelo Ball in exchange for Naz Reid. They also got rid of Miles Bridges and made a bunch of minor signings.
The Chicago Bulls have earned a B+ for their offseason, with the hiring of a new front office and the acquisition of Norman Powell and Nic Claxton. They also may have gotten the best player in the draft class, Caleb Wilson, with the No. 4 pick.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, however, have been graded a C-, after failing to make any significant additions to their roster. They did re-sign Donovan Mitchell, but are still waiting on LeBron to make a decision.
The Dallas Mavericks have been graded an A-, thanks to the addition of Masai Ujiri as their president of basketball operations and Dusty May as head coach. They also brought in Zacharie Risacher for essentially nothing, giving them a player with high upside at a low cost.
The Denver Nuggets have been graded a C, after failing to make any significant additions to their roster. They did bring in Marvin Bagley and re-sign Tyus Jones, but it's not enough to make a significant impact.
The Detroit Pistons have earned a B+ for their offseason, with the addition of John Collins and Isaiah Joe. They also likely re-signed Jalen Duren, putting this down as a successful offseason.
The Golden State Warriors have been graded a C+, after failing to make any significant additions to their roster. They did re-sign a bunch of players and drafted Yaxel Lendeborg, but it's not enough to make a significant impact.
The Houston Rockets have been graded a C-, after failing to make any significant additions to their roster. They did re-sign a couple of players and brought in Marcus Smart and Bogdan Bogdanović, but it's not enough to make a significant impact.
The Indiana Pacers have been graded a C, after signing Kelly Oubre Jr. and Larry Nance Jr. They also lost their top-four protected lottery pick, which fell to No. 5.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been graded a B, after trading Kawhi Leonard for younger talent. They also lost John Collins, who had been a big piece for them over the last couple of years.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been graded an A+, after losing LeBron and flipping their roster upside down. They came back significantly better, signing Quentin Grimes, Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton, Matisse Thybulle, and several other quality role players.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been graded a D, after being rebuilt… again. They acquired a lot of players on different timelines, but it's not enough to make a significant impact.
The Miami Heat have been graded a C, after making a blockbuster trade to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo. They also acquired Tim Hardaway Jr., but if LeBron decides to sign elsewhere, this team is in the same position as last year.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been graded an A-, after moving on from Giannis Antetokounmpo. They acquired a ton of young talent in the deal and also drafted Brayden Burries, who has looked like the steal of the draft.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been graded an A-, after acquiring LaMelo Ball and re-signing Ayo Dosunmu. The Timberwolves finally got the elite guard they've been searching for, and their starting lineup looks like one of the best in the league.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been graded a D-, after failing to make any significant additions to their roster. They did re-sign 38-year-old DeAndre Jordan, but it's not enough to make a significant impact.
The New York Knicks have been graded a B, after re-signing most of their key contributors. They let Mitchell Robinson sign elsewhere while improving their frontcourt depth by signing elite rebounder Andre Drummo.
The NBA offseason is far from over, with a few notable players still left to decide where they'll sign. The 2026-2027 season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent memory, with several teams making significant improvements.
