40 Central Texas high school volleyball players stand out with breakout 2026 seasons ahead of playoffs

The Central Texas high school volleyball season is heating up as 40 breakout players from Austin-area schools prepare for the playoff stretch. These athletes, all under the radar a year ago, are now making significant impacts for their teams across various districts.

Among the standouts is Delaney Hoffman, a sophomore middle blocker for Rouse, who has contributed 133 kills and 34 blocks to lead the Raiders at the top of District 24-6A. Rouse’s success owes much to her presence on the court. Alongside Hoffman, junior opposite Janaiya Jenkins has recorded 173 kills and 80 digs, helping the Raiders to 22 wins this season.

Other notable players include the freshmen who have adjusted quickly to varsity play. Kylie Cavil, a setter at Round Rock, has already amassed 644 assists, 308 digs, and 39 aces, a remarkable output for a newcomer. Similarly, freshman libero Libby Askevich has been a defensive force for Hays, a team battling for a playoff spot.

Westlake’s junior middle Taylor Chorazy leads District 25-6A with an eye-catching 110 blocks and 141 kills, while her teammate, freshman outside hitter Caroline Ehrlich, is expected to return from injury soon after tallying 232 kills, 37 blocks, and 121 digs. The Timberwolves also rely on junior outside hitter and six-rotation player Harper Bohnen, who has 287 kills and 286 digs, and is noted by coach John Henze as “dominant in serve receive.”

Georgetown’s sophomore outside hitter Claire Berryman has helped push the Eagles to a 35-5 record, hitting .256 with 284 kills, 64 digs, and 28 aces. Her teammate Madelyn Bradley, a middle/pin, plays an unheralded role, excelling in fundamentals like closing blocks and disrupting opponents’ offenses, according to coach Jenny Richardson.

District 26-6A sees Bowie’s Mya Adkins averaging nearly five assists per set, totaling 508 assists, 184 digs, and 52 aces as the Bulldogs chase a playoff berth. Senior middle/right-side hitter Ella McCoy leads Bowie with 202 kills and 37 blocks. Pflugerville’s Khianne Alpuerto stands out defensively with 310 digs alongside 59 assists and 11 aces.

At Stony Point, senior libero Jullia Howser has tallied 485 digs, a key factor as the Tigers maintain a playoff spot in a competitive District 25-6A. Junior outside hitter Olivia Mendez leads Stony Point with 160 kills. Meanwhile, Liberty Hill’s junior setter and right-side hitter Ryann Mendoza is a dual threat with 431 assists, 222 digs, 41 aces, and 159 kills.

Other players making noise include Legacy Ranch freshman libero Harper Keeney, who has produced 179 digs in the District 16-5A playoff chase, and senior setter Henley Magee at Anderson, who has been “electric” with 654 assists, 166 digs, and 45 aces as the Trojans top District 24-5A. Anderson’s senior outside hitter Juliet Anderson has 167 kills, 99 digs, and 21 blocks, while senior middle Julyana Harris contributes 134 kills and 34 blocks.

At McCallum, sophomore outside hitter Annika Ellwanger has 150 kills and 81 digs, while left-handed opposite Audrey Moss has 83 kills and 11 aces. The Knights appear poised for the 5A playoffs. Ann Richards boasts junior middle Mamie Petree and outside hitter Parker Schurle, both contributing strongly in the crowded District 24-5A playoff race.

East View’s junior middle Cheyanne Miller has 93 kills, 30 blocks, and 30 aces, while St. Stephen’s freshman outside hitter Mollie Gallagher has hit .291 in nine matches despite injury setbacks.

Freshman middle/opposite Ela Cubukcu at Round Rock is hitting .269 with 151 kills, 61 blocks, and 39 aces. Cedar Park’s junior setter Adelyn Hughes has 505 assists and 255 digs, and sophomore libero Harper Cihal leads the back row with 350 digs, 130 assists, and 78 aces.

The list includes players excelling in all facets—offense, defense, setting, and serving—at schools throughout Central Texas. Their efforts are reshaping district races and setting up a competitive playoff period in the weeks ahead.
