Wrexham's recent preseason tour in the United States has been a valuable experience, allowing the team to test their skills against top-tier opposition and appreciate the fans who have traveled from around the world to support them.
"It's not every year at every club you can experience a tour around the States, and to appreciate the fans as well who have traveled miles all from the States to get to these games. Yeah, it's a really enjoyable experience," Wrexham defender Dominic Hyam said about the tour.
Wrexham's Hollywood story is matched by their impressive promotion record, with three straight promotions before last season. However, their expected goal difference of -5.55 would have placed them 15th in the Championship, a sobering statistic that highlights the challenges they face in their second season.
The team's spending power has decreased significantly, from €39.09 million last season to just €5.82 million this year. With newly demoted West Ham United and Wolverhampton keeping their star players, the task of climbing to the Premier League may have gotten harder.
Manager Phil Parkinson remains optimistic, however, and believes that the team's experience and quality will be enough to see them through. "That is a thing where people say the second season is harder, and I think the league's going to be stronger this year. However, I feel that it's been good for us to have all the players we signed last summer together," he said.
