Titans Training Camp: 5 Key Players Who Need to Improve

LB James Williams has been the standout player in the Titans' training camp, impressing coaches and teammates alike with his explosive plays and reshaped physique.

The Tennessee Titans finished off their second week of training camp with the annual Blue & White scrimmage on Friday night at Nissan Stadium. In what was a competitive contest, the defense eventually prevailed using the modified scoring system. The scrimmage marked the end of the second week of training camp, which has seen both ups and downs from the players.

Veteran linebacker Cody Barton is struggling to make an impact, with rookie second-round pick Anthony Hill Jr. and Cedric Gray outshining him. Barton has been pushed to pick up the pace, with the Titans unsure of how many linebackers they will keep on the roster.

Rookie running back Nick Singleton has taken advantage of the extra reps he received in the scrimmage, showcasing his decisiveness and explosiveness. He proved he could be a solid complement to Tony Pollard in the backfield, and his performance has given him a chance to fight for one of the final roster spots.

Running back Kalel Mullings, however, left the scrimmage early with an injury, which did not help his cause. He finished with two carries for eight yards, but missed a golden opportunity to make a stronger impression on the coaches.

Edge Jaylen Harrell is making a strong case to be on the roster in 2026, with his third year in the league seeming to bring him into his own in Robert Saleh's system. He makes plays daily in practice and will be fun to see if he can carry that over into the preseason games.

Quarterback Will Levis has been underwhelming, with his training camp performance not backing up his claim of being one of the top 32 quarterbacks in the league. He lost ground to Mitch Trubisky in the battle to be Cam Ward's backup throughout the week and would clearly be on the outside of the roster if the preseason ended today.

Defensive tackle Khalen Saunders has been visible and made plays throughout the week, giving him a chance to stick with the Titans. The team signed him one week ago, and he has been making the most of his opportunity.

Kicker Joey Slye has been struggling, with a disappointing scrimmage where he missed multiple kicks. He came up short on a 50-yard attempt and missed wide on two others, sending a message that he needs to pick it up. The Titans worked out three kickers on Saturday, and although none were signed, it will be interesting to see how Slye responds in the coming weeks.

The Titans will continue to evaluate their players in the coming weeks, with the preseason games providing a crucial test for those fighting for roster spots. The competition is fierce, and only those who can make the most of their opportunities will be able to secure a spot on the team.
