Seattle Shocks 11-Game Drought with Thrilling Win over Mercury
The Seattle Storm ended their 11-game losing streak with a thrilling 97-88 win over the Chicago Sky on Monday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.
The Storm's last win before Monday was on July 6 at Los Angeles, but they broke the drought against their Western Conference rivals. Seattle led for 94% of the contest and held a largest lead of 17 points.
Dominique Malonga led the Storm in scoring with 26 points, while Natisha Hiedeman finished with 18 points. Chicago's DiJonai Carrington scored 26 points in 27 minutes, but her team was unable to overcome the Storm's strong performance.
Jordan Horston, a former Lady Vol, started for Seattle and played 23 minutes against the Sky. She totaled 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Horston converted 3-of-7 field goal attempts and 4-of-5 free throw attempts.
The Storm outrebounded the Sky 36-35 and dominated the game from start to finish. Seattle's strong performance will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming games.
