Team Wisco's Randy Wolf Steals Show at Brewers Alumni Game
Randy Wolf hit a two-run homer to propel Team Wisco to victory in the Brewers Alumni Legends game, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Wolf's home run was a surprise, given his background as a pitcher. He won a playoff game for the Brewers as a starting pitcher in 2011 and had a combined 1,642 home runs scored by everyone else playing in the game.
However, Wolf's moment came as he hit a two-run homer, cementing his performance as the standout player of the night. He replicated Prince Fielder's 2009 "Bowling ball" celebration with the rest of Team Wisco.
Wolf's achievement was all the more impressive considering it was his fifth career home run and first one in a Brewers uniform. However, it wasn't his first at American Family Field – he hit a home run as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2001.
Wolf's efforts earned him the inaugural Brewers Alumni legends Game MVP award, which he was presented after the game. He also pitched in the game and gave up no runs, leaving American Family Field with a gold medal and a three-tier trophy.
When asked how he planned on getting his trophy home, Wolf joked that he would carry it around Europe, "like it's the Stanley Cup." He is not heading home after the game, instead embarking on a trip to Rome.
Wolf did, however, realize that he would be leaving American Family Field without one thing: his home run ball. "I didn't even think about that," he said.
The Brewers Alumni Legends game was a unique opportunity for former players to come together and compete in a lighthearted atmosphere. Wolf's performance was a highlight of the evening, and his trophy will undoubtedly be a cherished keepsake.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported on the game, stating that Wolf's efforts earned him the inaugural Brewers Alumni legends Game MVP award.
