FC Groningen Close in on Loan Signing of Parma's 22-Year-Old Winger

FC Groningen is on the cusp of signing 22-year-old winger Jacob Ondrejka from Parma on loan, according to reports.

The deal is expected to be completed in time for Ondrejka to feature in FC Groningen's second Eredivisie game of the season against ADO Den Haag this Sunday.

Jacob Ondrejka has a history of playing in the low countries, albeit across the border in Belgium for Antwerp.

Ondrejka began his career in Sweden with Landskorna BoIS before joining Elfsborg in 2020. He played 110 games for the side, scoring 20 goals.

In the summer of 2023, Ondrejka joined Antwerp in Belgium, where he played 55 games in a season and a half, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists.

Midway through his second season at Antwerp, Ondrejka's form earned him a move to Serie A to join Parma in the middle of 2024.

However, last season Ondrejka only played 17 games for Parma, failing to score or find an assist.

He still has a contract with Parma until 2029, but a move to FC Groningen could help him rediscover the form he had previously shown with Antwerp.

The 22-year-old's current form is a far cry from the seven goals and five assists he managed in 26 games with Antwerp.

Ondrejka's move to FC Groningen would be his second stint in the Eredivisie, after a brief spell in Belgium.

The signing could potentially boost FC Groningen's attacking options, especially with the team's second game of the season just around the corner.

The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days, with FC Groningen set to announce the signing of Ondrejka soon.

Ondrejka's future at Parma has been in question since his disappointing form last season.

The 22-year-old's contract with Parma remains valid until 2029.

With his move to FC Groningen on the horizon, it remains to be seen whether Ondrejka can recapture his previous form and help the Dutch side in their Eredivisie campaign.
