Palace City youth basketball league opens registration for winter season

Registration is now open for the Palace City youth basketball league, inviting boys and girls from first through sixth grade in the Mitchell area to join the winter season. The league offers a chance to develop basketball skills and compete in a series of games culminating in a postseason tournament.

The fee is $100 per player, which includes a jersey. Scholarships are available upon request to help cover costs. Practices start on Sunday, October 25, and will take place each Sunday until the postseason. Scheduled game dates are November 22, December 6, December 13, January 10, January 24, and January 31. The final game and postseason tournament will be held on January 31.

Alongside the main league, the Palace City Instructional League is open to all first graders in the Mitchell School District. This program costs $25 and also includes a jersey, with scholarships available. It focuses on introducing young players to basketball fundamentals and provides a chance to play in controlled five-on-five games on the same dates as the main league.

Coach and player registration is accessible through the league’s website, palacecitybasketball.com, with the registration deadline set for Sunday, October 11. Out-of-town coaches, players, and teams interested in participating must register by emailing palacecitybb@gmail.com.

The league’s structure offers a clear path for youth in the region to engage with basketball during the winter, balancing skill development with competitive play over a series of scheduled Sundays. Practices and games are designed to build experience steadily, leading into the postseason tournament at the end of January.
