This latest triumph was secured on Friday night at Paynesville, where NLS scored five runs in the top of the first inning, only to see Starbuck tie the game at 6-6 by the fifth inning. However, the Twins managed to pull ahead once again with two crucial runs in the seventh, ultimately holding on for the win.
Hunter Magnuson and Jett Salonek were key contributors for NLS, each going 2-for-4 with impressive performances. Magnuson's double, walk, and two runs were matched by Salonek's two doubles, walk, and three RBIs.
On the mound, Jordan Ellingson secured the win for NLS, pitching 4.2 innings in relief. He allowed just one hit and one run, striking out eight and walking six.
Starbuck's Dylan Alexander and Austin Ver Steeg also put up impressive numbers, with Alexander going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, and an RBI, and Ver Steeg going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, two runs, and an RBI. Jackson Hendrickson's home run and three RBIs for Starbuck added to the excitement.
The game was played at Paynesville due to the state Division II American Legion baseball tournament, which is being held this weekend at Marthaler Field in Glenwood.
