Nick Andrews scored three touchdowns as Southington pulled away from Windsor with a 35-6 win on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, at Windsor High School. The senior running back rushed for two scores and caught a 46-yard touchdown pass, helping the No. 5 Blue Knights improve to 3-0.
Windsor took an early 6-0 lead on a 24-yard touchdown pass from LJ Richardson to sophomore Braylon Chaney, but Southington responded late in the first quarter. Junior Ben Beaulieu broke through with a 4-yard rushing touchdown, and kicker Jake Carrier’s extra point put the Blue Knights ahead 7-6.
The second quarter belonged to Andrews. After senior captain Ben Kielbowicz intercepted a Windsor pass, Andrews ran in a 10-yard touchdown to extend the lead. Later, junior quarterback Jacoby Roman found Andrews for a 46-yard touchdown reception, pushing the score to 21-6 with just over five minutes left in the half.
Beaulieu added a 9-yard touchdown catch from Roman before halftime, with Carrier’s kick making it 28-6. Andrews capped the scoring in the third quarter with a 2-yard run out of the wildcat formation.
Andrews said he was initially frustrated but proud of the team’s effort. "I love this team," he said. "I'm very proud of my team. I got a little frustrated in the beginning … but later on we all just pushed it into gear."
Southington’s offensive line received praise from Andrews for cleaning up mistakes from the previous week. "Proud of my line. They stepped it up. Cleaned up from last week. We were full of penalties, and this week, better on O and better on D," he said.
Coach Rob Levesque acknowledged the team’s slow start but emphasized a focus on steady improvement. "We had a lot of penalties last week," Levesque said. "Every coach circles what they have to get better at. Started off slow, wanted to start off fast, but the goal is 1-0 every week, and the boys know that. They keep that tunnel vision and they stay together and play as a team."
Southington had struggled in the second half of their previous game against Newtown, allowing two touchdowns while failing to score themselves. This time, they shut out Windsor after the opening quarter.
Windsor remains winless at 0-3 after entering the season as defending state champions. They face East Hartford next Friday at 6:30 p.m., while Southington hosts Wilton at 7 p.m. on the same night.
Roman’s passing numbers stand out this season. The junior quarterback has thrown for over 500 yards and nine touchdowns across three games.
The final scoreline read Southington 35, Windsor 6, with Southington’s scoring spread over four different touchdowns. Carrier converted all four extra-point attempts.
Andrews’ three-touchdown performance was the standout of the night, confirming his role as a key offensive weapon for the Blue Knights moving forward.
